1854 Reserve The Boss Edition is the second private-label bourbon release from Southern Specialty Spirits, building on the success of the Old Main Edition. Named after Wofford College's mascot, Boss the Terrier, this release raises the proof to 110 and adds additional barrel aging to unlock a deeper, more complex flavor profile. The Boss Edition demonstrates how organizations can evolve their custom bourbon brand over time, creating anticipation and repeat demand from their community. Developed by master blender Dixon Dedman and founder Garrett Steck, this single-barrel bourbon showcases the full potential of the private-label bourbon model.

Behind the Bottle
Dedman and Steck teamed up again to create a second release of 1854 Reserve. Named The Boss Edition as a nod to Wofford College's beloved mascot, Boss the Terrier, this release was designed to reward the community that made the first edition sell out. The increase in proof and additional time in the barrel unlocked newfound flavors not present in the original release. The Boss Edition proved that private-label bourbon is not a one-time project. It is a brand-building platform that organizations can return to year after year, creating limited releases that deepen loyalty and drive recurring revenue.
